Search Services

MEDLINE - Select MEDLINE access method:

  • Clinical Queries Interface
Generally used for clinical topics.  One must decide the focus of the search: | therapy | diagnosis | etiology | prognosis | in advance of using this interface.  If these categories do not pertain to your search, then use the Basic Search Interface.
  • Basic Search Interface
Keyword searching.  By using the Entrez Date limit option, this interface allows you to specify a time period to limit your searches to recent articles (as few as 30 days to no limit on time).

Web Search Services

If the information you require is not in your Digital Library, we suggest the following web search services please be aware that your librarians have not previewed the resources of these services): use Medical Matrix to determine whether a web site exists that addresses your topic. This type of search is analogous to using an online catalog in a print library to find a book.

  1. Directories (classified collections for browsing)
  1. Search Engines (indexed databases for keyword searching)
ALERT: By using these WWW Search Services, you will be retrieving information that is not part of your digital library and therefore has not been reviewed for quality. You must be cognizant of the credentials of those providing your information.  Evaluate all information from the WWW critically!
